Are you bored of old tiles on your bathroom floor? If yes, then you need to replace them with new stylish tiles. You have numerous choices for selecting your new stylish tiles as different types of tiles are available in market. It is not very tricky process, a person having required knowledge of using the tools can do this replacement. Mostly used tiles are- glass tiles (used for floor purpose) and ceramic tiles.

Tools used in this process are- cutters, tile nippers, grout, a large sponge, grout spacers, and a notched trowel. However, for sheet tiles grout spacers are not required and they can be easily installed because they have ready to install mosaics.

Before starting the process you need to remove old tiles from your bathroom floor. It is little cumbersome to do. Once you have removed old layer, properly clean the surface so that it becomes smooth and ready for next layer. Use grease cleaners for removing extra grease from the surface.

Calculate the number of tiles by measuring the size of floor and dividing it by size of one tile. Once you have calculated the requirement go to the shop and buy some extra tiles along with required number because some tiles can break during replacement process or you may need them in coming future.

The surface should be empty and cleaned before starting the process and for this you need to remove all the fixtures like sink, toilet from the surface. Now you need to put a plane and clean subfloor on which you can fix the tiles, use a green board or cement board for this purpose.

Now you can start fixing the tiles on floor. It is preferred to start fitting from the longest wall side as it makes your task convenient. Use rubber mallet for tapping as it fixes tiles well onto the floor. After that, grout spacer is used to maintain equal space between the tiles. If you need small tile for any place then you can cut a tile with tile cutter.

Leave tiles to set for 24 hours. After that you need to spread grout into the spaces between tiles with help of trowel. Wipe off excess grout with a wet sponge. Next day, run a damp mop over the tiles to clean off any additional grout. Let the grout cure for few days before stepping on the flooring.

Tiles are now fixed properly and you can set all the fixtures in the bathroom again. Put the extra tiles aside for future use. Your work is over now and you can enjoy new look of your bathroom.
