Money-Saving Ways For A More Beautiful Home Interior

by Clark Grismond

Home decorating can be cheap contrary to what the majority thinks. With a quick resourcefulness, a sprinkle of creativity and heaps of enthusiasm to transform your home, you can decorate with a penny-less.

Of course! Plus, you don’t have to worry about sacrificing quality and beauty with cheaper decorative items. Going to thrift shops and discount stores can be a shopping adventure. With the diverse selections of goods, you’ll find items that suit just about every taste a human with a home decorating project in mind can possibly have. Visiting flea markets and yard sales will open your eyes to amazing furniture collection marked with experience and character (from being used) that shiny brand new furnishings don’t possess yet. And the best part of all is the price. By purchasing discounted or used items, you get to save a lot to pay more of those bills you haven’t labeled “pending” yet.

Going to discount outlets or commonly known as dollar stores is a good shopping deal. Most items are considered surplus from department stores or retail chains. Therefore, even branded items are available but for a more reasonable price. Okay, you don’t get the fancy paper bags from a home decor shop with the handle, logo and all, but who cares about plain-looking plastic bags? Aside from the environmentalists, none so far if you count yourself more concerned with what’s inside. Better yet, bring your own bag to avoid adding to the non-biodegradable materials piling up on our Mother Earth. What matters are the amazing goods and prices dollar stores offer for budget-conscious consumers and wise-spending shoppers (yes, they do exist now that the recession is at full force).

You can also find free decorating accessories by looking through your own storage areas. You might be amazed at what you have hiding in storage. Knick knacks, old clothing, pictures, dishes and many other things can be revitalized to give your home a whole new look. You can use these things to create amazing art and accessories that you will love.

Simple works of art can have an impact on your home’s interiors. If you can create your own, you’ll get to express your artistry and creativity while saving some bucks at the same time. Making your own wall hangings such as a collage or funky bulletin board, artworks and attractively framed photos will transform a simple room into a living space of character. Old or unused home items can be raw materials for making your own artworks. For instance, colored and printed glassware that are no longer used can be made into collage decors; old fabrics that still look nice can be made into alternative wall decors; used drapes can be made into seat covers and beddings; extra wood materials can be made into photo frames or plant pots. Look out for things that you can maximize in decorating without costing much for repair.

Did you know that old clothes could be useful too? Of course, the worn out ones are easy targets for rags or wash cloths but the still nicer clothes can be used to make throw pillows and pillow covers. To make a throw pillow for your sofa, cut the clothing item into similar shapes, such as round on round and sew the clothing so there is only one opening. Stuff it with Polyfill and sew it shut. You have an instant throw pillow! The same goes for making a pillow cover – cut the fabric to fit the shape of the pillow, sew one end close and leave the other open for inserting the pillow. Ensure that you choose colors that will go well with your sofa and other furnishings. They don’t have to match but should at least look flawless with the rest of the room.

This article will not be complete without including an essential decorative item – area rug. There are budget-friendly rugs available in an assortment of colors, designs, shapes, sizes and fabrics. Hence, even if you buy brand new ones, you don’t have to spend an arm and leg to get quality and good-looking rugs. Area rugs are easy to match with any decorations and furnishings. They can also be used as both floor covers and wall hangings. Moreover, area rugs are easier to clean than carpeting, which makes for less chore and expenses for maintenance. Your home will look so good no one will know that you decorated with a tight hold on your financesunless you tell, that is. I won’t, so your secret is safe.
