It Is Not Difficult To Install Vertical Blinds

If you are thinking of purchasing vertical blinds, you are making a wise decision. These types of blinds are a lot easier to install than one would think and on top of that they are a very attractive type of window treatment. Along with being attractive, they also can be some of the least expensive ways to add a touch of class to any room.

When you go out looking for the window blinds, you will discover that there are a vast variety of different types of blinds. You can purchase blinds that look like wood without the price of wood. There are a variety of different materials as well as fabrics to choose from you will also discover that the colors are endless. Which makes it quite easy to find something that is going to accent your existing atmosphere in your room.

Another great thing about vertical blinds is that they are absolutely perfect for your glass sliding doors and can be opened completely without obstructing any view and they also can be closed all the way for complete privacy.

The tools and items you will need for installing your vertical blinds are the window blinds and their hardware, cordless drill, ladder, hammer and finishing nails (depends on the manufacturers instructions), protective glasses, a tape measure, hole punch, drill bits in a variety of sizes, hex head bit that is one quarter of an inch, level and scissors. If your blinds are heavy duty you will need to also have heavy duty wall hangers and toggle bolts and for light weight blinds you would just need plastic inserts.

You will need the measurements of your window before you can go out and actually by the window blinds. If you are doing an inside mount measure from the inside of the windows and if you are going to do an outside mount make sure to measure the width one inch out from each side. Once you have your blinds make sure that you now separate them from the hardware.

You can now measure and mark the spot one inch on each side of window. This will be where the brackets will be placed. Begin the holes with your hole punch and then take your cordless drill and finish up the bracket holes. If you discover that the wall is hollow when you are drilling, this is when you will need to use wall anchors to give more support. Now attach the brackets.

Now take the window blinds and attach them. These will go into the mounted brackets. You can do this by attaching the window blinds into grooves that are in the brackets. The rod that controls the window blinds can now be attached. If there is a dust cover or valance you need to measure about four inches out from where the brackets are and then drill holes through the valance or dust cover and into the wall. You will need help with this. You will then use screws to fasten the item to the wall. Snap the head rail of the window blinds in place and decide which side you want the pull cord on.

Now you are ready to install the louvers. You will need to rotate the stems so that you can see actually see through the slots and push the louver up into the slot, then you will down lightly on the louver and it should pop into place.
