Air Purifiers : How To Select The Best Air Purifier

by Ray Lam

Most doctors hesitate against recommending an air purifier as a first option. Nevertheless, if you’ve done everything else and medicine is only helping and not stopping your health issues, an air purifier could be what you need.

If you have air conditioning in your house then you are already half way there to having a whole house purifier system - simply install a filter onto the end of your system. These filters generally consist of HEPA filters (High Efficiency Particulate Air filter) which remove over 99% of all air born particles.

One important thing to consider is the amount of ozone an air purifier produces as too much ozone can irritate the lungs - an air purifier that produces less than 50 parts per billion ozone is plenty safe enough. Of course you don’t get this issue with the HEPA system as it’s a filter rather than a purifier, which is why they are one of the most popular types of air cleaner.

Apart from that, air purifier also features an indicator sensor of air quality. If it sniffes the air to be dirty and smelly, the sensor will show red light. After awhile, and after the air has become somewhat fresher, the light will turn white, and when the air is deemed clean, it will turn green. This way, the user could be positive of the air quality in a room that he/she breaths.

The maintenance is the second most important factor to consider in your home air purifier. How easy is it to clean and keep up? You should also ask how long the warranty is good for. Will you need to ship it anywhere should it need repair? These are some very important factors to consider.
